One of the things I love most about being a jewelry designer is being able to collaborate with my clients to help craft the piece of their dreams. I love the way someone’s eyes light up when they see a sketch that perfectly captures their imagination. One way I do this is through my commission process, which involves everything from customizing existing pieces on my site to creating bespoke designs from scratch. Another way, one that happens every time I visit a gallery or show my jewelry in person, is by combining parts of existing designs to create new one-of-a-kind pieces. This is especially the case for rings featuring cabochon stones, which are flat on the bottom and rounded on the top. I love collecting cabochons in unique shapes and sizes, but each of these stones requires building its own setting specific to the stone. For this reason, I’ve only been able to offer custom cabochon rings to my in-person clients… until now. Introducing the Kristen Baird® Collaborative Experience!
What is the Kristen Baird® Collaborative Experience?
The Kristen Baird® Collaborative Experience is a brand new online feature that allows you to create a completely unique custom ring by mixing and matching bands and stones. It works in much the same way as my process with in-person clients, but can be done from anywhere in the world! All of the cabochon stones are one-of-a-kind, so once they’re purchased they will disappear from the site. You will select your stone, your band, and your metal. There will also be options for a few upgrades. Once you make your selections, I will start hand-crafting the perfect ring just for you!
KCBE will also be available as a gift option, so you can purchase the experience for a loved one. They will have all the magic and fun of building their own ring, and you will have the peace of mind of knowing you got them exactly what they wanted.
How does it work?
KBCE rings will be available in two basic categories: petite and statement. First, you will decide if you want something elegant and dainty (think Graceful Glimmer Collection) or funky and bold. Next up… playtime! You will select from an array of the unique cabochon stones I have in stock. Once a stone is chosen, it will be gone forever. So, grab the one you love. Then, pick your band and size. Standard rings will feature a fine silver bezel, but you can add a contrasting yellow or rose gold bezel as an upgrade. With so many options to choose from, I think you’ll have a blast!
What does it cost?
The standard KCBE ring with a sterling silver band and fine silver bezel is $399. Options for upgrades, such as contrasting gold bezels are also available. If you’re looking for additional alterations, reach out for availability and pricing.
Are the stones that I see online the only stones available?
No! These are the stones I’ve selected because they’re super unique and the KBCE is the best way to show them off. However, I have a ton of stones in my studio (you might even say I’m a bit of a gemstone hoarder!) If you’re looking for something specific, please reach out to me. We can still do the KBCE experience with something perfect for you.
I have my own stone. Can you use that?
Yes! I love incorporating stones from heirloom jewelry or interesting pieces that you’ve come across. I can absolutely create a KCBE ring with a stone from your own jewelry collection. Reach out to me for details and pricing info!
How many band options do you have?
There are 4 band options for the statement rings and 3 options for the petite rings.
Can I see my ring before it arrives?
I will send a “mock-up” video of the band you choose and your stone, so you can get a sneak peek of what they will look like when finally put together. This is one of the ways I will keep that personal touch going throughout the experience.
How can I gift this experience?
KBCE gift cards will cover the standard silver ring and bezel and any of the stones listed on the site. Depending on your preference, I can either email you a PDF gift certificate for you to give to your loved one or, if you give me their email, I can email them on the date of your choosing. Either way, it’s going to be a great surprise!
